In his essay "Clockwork Oranges"², Burgess asserts that "this title would be appropriate for a story about the application of Pavlovian, or mechanical, laws to an organism which, like a fruit, was capable of colour and sweetness". This title alludes to the protagonist's negatively conditioned responses to feelings of evil which prevent the exercise of his free will.

meaning that he has the appearance of an organism lovely with color and juice, but is in fact only a clockwork toy to be wound up by God or the Devil; or the almighty state."

The film was rated C (for "condemned") by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops' Office for Film and Broadcasting because of its explicit sexual and violent content; such a rating conceptually forbade Catholics from seeing the film. The "condemned" rating was abolished in 1982, and since then films deemed by the conference to have unacceptable levels of sex and/or violence have been rated O, meaning "morally offensive".

paul klee

paul klee has always been one of my favorite artist. Senecio portrays the complementary color system. this is also one of my favorite painatings. i made it into a name tag that i wore during my first year as a camp counselor.

this stuff is crazy. i don't know, when i thought of perspective being used as a tool for artwork i immediately thought of this. its pretty good perspective when people walk around your art, not because they don't want to mess it up but because they are afraid of falling in!

Bleu II by Joan MIro

This is a very literal emphasis on the red stroke. but without the pattern of the black shapes to the right the stroke would not be as interesting. i love the colors, too!

recycle

even though i should have been finishing what i can of my AP homework tonight i started a new project.

i decided my family was going to recycle plastic, glass and paper products along with the aluminum cans we already recycle on an irregular basis. so i cleaned out our laundry room, washed storage crates and made these labels for each one in photoshop. thought i would post them.
